Dining in the new normal with sustainable and hygienic wrapped wooden cutlery
Celebration Packaging’s EnviroWare® wooden cutlery is now available hygienically packed in a plastic-free wrapper.
“With the current heightened focus on hygiene, resulting from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we are pleased to offer one of our popular sustainable product ranges with an added hygienic benefit,” says Celebration Packaging Managing Director Nick Burton. “Our well-proven high quality, smooth wooden cutlery range is now available hygienically wrapped.”
The EnviroWare® wooden cutlery range consists of a knife, fork and two sizes of spoon. Each piece is available individually wrapped plus there is a popular meal kit option containing a knife, fork, spoon and 22cm square brown paper napkin. The cutlery is made from wood from sustainable forestry and has full FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) chain of custody accreditation, while the unbleached paper wrapping is plastic free.
“Many consider Celebration as the foodservice cutlery experts,” says Nick Burton. “We won a silver award for our EnviroWare® paper cutlery in the Innovation Challenge at the lunch! show at London’s ExCel last year. The judging panel said: “The EnviroWare® paper cutlery is a real contender for the future of foodservice cutlery”.
As restaurants and pubs reopen, respecting social distancing and with health and hygiene at the top of their agenda to keep both staff and customers safe, hygienic disposable single-use paper products have become hugely important. Celebration Packaging supplies many different types of hygienic paper items from cutlery sleeves to table-top items such as place mats and tray liners, which can be supplied custom printed and can include social distancing and other messages.
“Single-use paper cutlery sleeves are very popular as restaurants want their customers to know they are using clean uncontaminated cutlery,” says Nick Burton. “Adding our wooden cutlery as a wrapped option provides a choice for operators who are also paying attention to their sustainability agenda.
“Single-use tissue coasters are being considered as a hygienic replacement for the traditional beer mats and card glass covers are also proving popular. Crisp white glass covers present an attractive, cost effective, and environmentally friendly way of ensuring empty unused glasses and pre-served drinks remain hygienic, and reduce the risk of spillage during transportation.
“This focus on the benefits of disposable paper items takes Celebration full-circle to the start of the business in 1983 when our first products were personalised tissue coasters.
“We continue to add more products made from sustainable materials such as bagasse, PLA, paper, and wood. Many people think this important focus on sustainability is something new and are then surprised to discover that we launched our EnviroWare® range over 13 years ago.”
